I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this day's date, acquainting me that Sir Patrick Manson had reported that I was permanently unfit for the performance of my duties.
As directed, I am quite willing to accept the Pension which may be allotted to me.
I may mention that I entered the Civil Service in March 1880 in St Vincent, West Indies, and remained there until my transfer to Hong Kong in February 1899, from which latter post I came home on leave in Dec: 1911.
I would direct attention to my leave papers, (which were enclosed in my last letter to you) from which it will be observed that I have had but little leave of absence during the term of my Service.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
London, S.W.
